Stye Icon Jacqueline De Ribes, celebrated for her originality and elegance is one of the most internationally renowned personas of this century. Her incredible archive of Haute Couture and her personal designs are exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Photographs, videos and magazine clippings along with her exquisite collection of fashion makes for a wonderful trip through her world of charity balls, social events and professional life in the theatre and runway.
Jacqueline De Ribes was an important Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture customer. Above was the first sheer dress in Couture, a bit of a rebel - Jacqueline wore it to a night out with a fur stole for decency.
One of my favorites in this exhibit, this was a personal design of Jacqueline. I love the blue delicate silk tiers on a black dress
Haute Couture is all hand done and precisely measured to the customer, as the draped hem on this beaded dress above.
This dress by Jean Paul Gaultier has exquisite bone detail at neck & arm bands
These costume ensembles were refurbished from Jacqueline's archives for high society balls
Exhibit is open through February 21, 2016
